WHO WE ARE......
The Lions Club of Centerville Ohio
By Centerville Lion John "Red" Corwin,
Sept. 2000
We thank you for
taking time to pause, to read of our important and worthy cause.
Our mission is to
restore eyesight,
so people of all ages can see more light.
Money is raised at
public events to build a community fund,
where all members turn the work into fun.
Over $400,000 has
passed through our till,
Made at events by members who worked at will.
The club has
collected over 80,000 pairs of your used glasses,
Now worn world-wide by people of all classes.
The club buys
glasses for students in need,
So they too can learn to read.
Two Centerville
grads are awarded $1000.00 scholarships each year,
To help with costs they must bear.
With the help of
police for over 40 Holloweens,
Cracker Jacks are passed out to beggars, the kiddies, and teens.
Santa Claus has
called on a needy family each year,
To fill their homes with hope and good cheer.
The club’s gifts
of food, clothing, and toys,
Has filled the hearts of good girls and boys.
But now over 50
years has gone past,
Much too long for the founder and the members to last.
To all good
members that have met their fate,
We pray they were welcome at the Pearly Gate.
So like the lion,
with newborns, fill his pride,
We need new members by our side.
“I will join right
away!”, is what we would like to hear to you say,
So the Lions Club of Centerville will not fade away.
This is the end of
the story, not written for love, money, or glory.
